Creating a character for roleplaying on this forum is a fun and sometimes challenging task that requires creativity and thought. It’s more than deciding on a name, personality, and appearance; it requires depth and room for the character to evolve through roleplay.
No character is static in this world, except for select Abstracts (see Types of Characters). All characters are dynamic and subject to change. What’s the fun in roleplaying at all if their experiences don’t contribute to their development?
To create a character, you have to submit a character profile in the Character Directory board, with the character's name as the title of the thread.
***ALL CHARACTERS MUST BE APPROVED BY A MODERATOR BEFORE YOU CAN BEGIN ROLEPLAYING WITH THEM.***
The minimum requirements for a character profile are as follows:
Both living and dead characters need at least this information in their character's profile.
Name: First and last at least, and any aliases/nicknames if there are any.
Age:
Biological sex: Male or female. If this character identifies as a different gender, make sure to specify that as well!
Type: See Types of Characters.
Occupation: What does this character do for a living, and if they are deceased, what did they do before they died? If they are/were a student, unemployed, or too young to work, please specify that too.
Location/Address:
Personality traits (5 minimum): You can be creative here, but you need to have at least five traits and a small description for each of them. It’s no fun to list things like “nice” or “mean”, but feel free as long as you provide a description. Example: Leona was opinionated; she had strong beliefs and wanted to make them known to everyone she knew, even if they didn’t express any interest in them.
Appearance in detail: This just makes it easier for other people to interact with the character. You can keep it bare bones minimum and just say their hair color, eye color, and what kind of clothes they wear if you’d like to leave some details to the imagination, or you can go as in-depth as you’d like. Feel free to post a picture of someone who resembles your character, but you’re not allowed to actually PLAY a known character of any show or movie or book or anything. For example, you can’t put a picture of Zac Efron and say that your character’s name is Zac Efron. Unoriginality is frowned upon! Please include at least one sentence here, and be creative, but keep it realistic.
History (3 sentences minimum): Where did they grow up? Did they have any crazy life-changing experiences during their life? This is a great place to discuss the type of the character and why/how that came to be. Even if the character is oblivious to their past or doesn't remember (ghosts specifically), include it here for reference and consistency. Of course, you aren’t expected to include every single thing that affects the character; sometimes it’s more fun to roleplay it out!
Only dead characters need this additional information in their character profiles.
Cause of death: You don’t have to describe this in great detail but for a character to be dead they had to have… died. I shouldn’t have to say that, but you never know with people. Even if the character doesn’t know that they’re dead (see Types of Characters) you MUST specify how they died!
Type of haunting: See Types of Hauntings.
Other things to know: Does this character have visible wounds from their death? Can Seers and Mediums always tell if they’re dead? Any other tidbits involving their state can be included here.
